After listening and reading so many reviews and hot gossips about this Korean movie and especially after watching the banjun drama King's Man parody by TVXQ, I couldn't help but to download it from Veoh. It had stayed in my laptop's hardisk for about 2 - 3 months where I was trying to coax Lynn into watching it with me... please unnie.. watch it with me.. please, pretty please *puppy dog eyes*
Keke.. simply just 'cos I didn't want to barf alone XD
Watching the trailer gave me tingles in my spine, the movie lingers a little on homosexuality and besides, how could a man look so feminine? While watching Super Junior's parody of King's man, there was this cut-scene from the movie itself where GongGil was putting on a puppet show for the King. I dig up the video and searched frantically for just that scene....
It left me utterly disturbed.... But somehow the scene was so..how do I put it, artish-feelly-with-underlying-meaning?

(Spoiler Alert)
King's Man(literal translation) sets in the JoSeun period where two clowns, JangSaeng ( Gam Wu Seong) and GongGil ( Lee Jun Ki) flees to the city (probably Seoul) after killing the boss of their performing troup when he tried to sell GongGil's body off to some noble. They started performing shows mocking members of the royal court, particularly the King and his new concubine, Noksu. They were finally arrested for treason and JangSaeng made a bargain with one of the royal court member,ChoSeun that if he could make King laugh then their life must be spared. On the day itself, the members of the performing group were so nervous in front of the King's presence that they screwed up the whole performance and nearly causing their heads to roll. Then GongGil bravely step up to perform one last joke with JangSaeng and the King let out a single laugh thus saving them all.
The performing troup became part of the royal palace member, he calls for GongGil to his room to be his playmate. And at this point GongGil entertains the king everyday with puppet and shadow shows. JangSaeng was jealous or more likely unhappy at the thought that GongGil might have sacrifice his body to the King that he said he regretted his action in bringing in the whole troup to the palace.
One day the troup have been requested to perform a play almost similiar to the tragedy that struck the king's mother. While watching the show, the king became enraged and went mad killing his late father's concubines in front of the whole royal court. His grandmother watching this had cardiac arrest(LOL) and died as well. JangSaeng was ready to leave the palace with the rest of the troup members after realising that the king is a tyrant but GongGil refused to leave because he pitied the king.
Members of the royal court felt that their lifes were in danger with the mocking plays put up by this group of clowns thus plotted to kill the king's favourite. During a hunting expedition, GongGil got separated from the team and assassin's were sent after him. JangSaeng went running to Gong Gil's rescue after learning of this from one of his troup member who witnessed that the archers were shooting arrows at the latter. GongGil eventually falls down from his horse and when the arrow was about to hit him, one of the troup members sacrificed himself by running in front of GongGil. The king came to his rescue and gruesomely ends the assassin's life.
Noksu, jealoused that the King had been ignoring her by spending most of his time with GongGil instead, distributed flyers which insults the king written with GongGil's handwriting. JangSaeng takes the blame that GongGil was falsely accused with and thus he was jailed. ChoSeun who had previously taken in the performing group to the palace, secretly released JangSaeng telling him to forget his partner. Instead, he walked into the palace openly insulting the king while performing on tightrope. The king unamused with the situation tried to shoot him down with an arrow, ignoring GongGil's plea to stop. JangSaeng fell and thus got captured. For openly insulting the king, he was blinded with an hot iron.
GongGil saddened by the whole event tried to commit suicide while performing puppet show for the king. The king after witnessing GongGil's suicide attempt became even more insane, went back to his consort,Noksu for comfort. The king released JangSaeng and ordered him to perform his one final act on the tightrope, blind. He is then joined by GongGil and while performing said that they will still be clowns in the next life and they will meet again. The scene ended with JangSaeng throwing away his fan, implying that both of them committed suicide and the soldiers rushing in to attack the palace.
I would say it's a fitting ending to the whole story.
Everyone DIES!!! MUAAHAAHHAHAA...
I love this picture the most, the rest scares me >.< ; modern day King's man. Gong Gil and Noksu the concubine.

King's Man cast after receiving 10 awards in total and some of them are Best Film, Best Leading Actor(Gam Wu Seong), Best Newcomer Actor(Jun Ki) and Best Overseas Actor(JunKi).
This show had me glued to the screen because honestly, all the casts' performance were amazing. They really performed their character well especially JunKi.I was actually taken back by Lee JunKi's acting as he put aside his male pride and ego to become a little feminine and soft but not too girlish yet not too manly in the movie. Seriously I pitied him that he had to play GongGil's role furthermore, most of the cast were underpaid for the film itself.
And when GongGil cries somehow you feel like crying along with him.....
This show is a good watch and you won't be barfing at all. Homosexuality is a little ambiguous in the movie saves for the kiss scene where the king forced himself on GongGil. Well he fainted during that scene anyways and JunKi was set up! In my point of view, the kiss scene reveals that the king was already beyond rational thinking thus leading to the government's collapse. I kind of regret now that I had deleted it from my laptop. If you're a Korean Junkie, the King and the Clown movie is a must watch!
♥ Junki Thanking all of you for your votes ♥
